8U Mites In-House

The Avon Hockey 2026-2027 8U Mites In-House Program is designed to introduce young players to the game of hockey in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Open to players ages 5 to 8, this program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and a love for the game while building a strong foundation for future hockey growth.

At the 8U level, players focus on learning fundamental skills such as skating, puck handling, passing, and basic game concepts. Sessions are structured to promote engagement, confidence, and enjoyment, ensuring that every player has the opportunity to develop at their own pace.

The In-House Program typically includes 2 sessions per weekend, allowing players to apply their skills in a controlled and age-appropriate setting. This format maximizes puck touches, promotes creativity, and encourages active participation.

The season runs from September through March, with sessions held primarily at the Avon Old Farms School rink, with occasional ice time at the International Skating Center of Connecticut as needed.

Avon Hockey is committed to creating a positive and inclusive experience for all players. The 8U Mites In-House Program focuses on building confidence, fostering friendships, and developing a lifelong passion for hockey in a fun and encouraging environment.
